Coming from bigger companies, we think that having fun, unique features in Slack is actually really beneficial to team culture, work vibes, and team success. John and Henry were looking to start something so made a Slack space to bounce ideas and readings and looked to add some fun slackbots. To our surprise...they cost a lot. Some were $5 per user per month?! That's more than half of just paying for Slack as a product. So I built one for us. Hosting only costs running the bot and the memory of our chicken count. Which led to the question, we can definitely offer this to teams for a lot less than most reward slackbots are charging and we can give out the code, so that if teams don't want to take the easy way (plz take easy way) and pay for HiChicken, they can host the app themselves for free (except for their own hosting).

We priced it to hopefully be so close to hosting costs that that's not worth it. But we love the open source community, so have at it.

No per-user pricing! Use HiChicken with teams of any size. Under 10 users is free, 10-100 users is $10/month, and 100+ users is $20/month. That's it - no matter how big your team grows, you pay one flat rate. If you are over 200.....maybe give us a heads up - but we'd still love to have you on HiChicken!
